I heard that they just had one. I never got a notice for the meeting. They are planning another gun show/Sportsman show flea market in May.

Well that's nice, If that truly is the case. there was no notice on the NYSTA website as I have been monitoring it to look for a notice on when it was scheduled. So much for transparency, and accountability, and wide open to membership transfer of information about what the NYSTA leadership is up to, Eh AL West ? I had planned on attending as I did the October 17th meeting, but if you don't inform the rank & file membership then there is no chance to attend. Looks like NYSTA brass is back to business as usual. Back Room, secretive, deals leaving the Dues paying membership in the dark. Tell me I'm wrong, AL West. All in my opinion, of course. walleyed

How many times have dues paying members who have a complaint been told, If you've got issues, come to the NYSTA Board of Director's meeting, otherwise don't complain.
Apparently they really don't want us showing up at a meeting because they kept it a secret, even from old, demented AL WEST.
(Sorry AL. I had to add some high drama there.)
Funny thing. They have been nagging us for our e-mail address for 10 years so they can inform us of important trapping related issues (like the date & time of the B.O.D. meeting) but apparently the system has a few kinks to work out yet. (sarcastic LOL)
I didn't get an e-mail notification, did you AL ?
Did anyone get an E-mail informing them when the B.O.D. meeting was ?
So I guess I'll start asking right now when the B.O.D. meeting is in April 2021 so It does not sneak up on us lowly, dues paying rank & file members again and we "miss" it again.
Whoever's job/task it was supposed to be to inform us members of the date of the B.O.D. meeting, you suck at it.
All in my opinion, of course.

I received no E-Mail to inform of the meeting and I am rather pissed about that, but I would not have attended anyway. As you say, I am old, and quite frankly am enjoying being away from all of the drama and bullshit. I'm too old to argue with you or anyone else, I'm headed for my rocking chair, electric blanket, and warm milk.

Not trying to illicit an argument, AL WEST. Just pointing out NYSTA's continued lack of regard for the average dues paying members who are once again taken for granted, and ignored by NYSTA & their evil henchman; "Johnny Sneakums Rockwood". Happy trails AL, and tight chains to you. All in my opinion, of course. walleyed

Nothing was posted on their FB page about it either. However, Swagler did say on there that the upcoming flea market/sportsman show was proposed at the October meeting and approved. Nothing was mentioned about a recent meeting...so maybe never happened.

Nothing was mentioned about a recent meeting...so maybe never happened. I guess that is possible also, but still, the recent Trapper's post had NYSTA news in it and urged the membership to come to a B.O.D. meeting, but gave no helpful information on what date & at what time the meeting would be held. If it has not already been held, then It should be coming up very soon in February. Again, no heads up information so members can make plans to attend. Maybe AL West really was having a senior moment. All in my opinion, of course. walleyed

Look who took the bait ! Revenge is sweet. This fox may be old but he's still sly !
Now if you want to bust another gasket check out the trapping season changes on page 4 of the January 8 issue of the New York Outdoor News.

Happy Trails. Not all trappers get the New York Outdoor News, or participate in Facebook so maybe you could copy & paste the article so we all could be enlightened & blow a gasket. Otherwise, we'll remain typical un-informed NYSTA members as usual, compliments of the NYSTA B.O.D. No rush, Drink down your bottle of "Ensure", change your diapers, take your afternoon nap, and get back to us when you feel more ambitious, AL. walleyed

Now that my nap is over I will tell you the truth is I don't know wheter the NYSTA BOD had a board meeting or not. I got my info second hand from a guy that might have got things mixed up. I never got an E-Mail notice so I'm having doubts any meeting actually happened. I also heard that you did attend the last BOD meeting, never said a word, and that you left half way through the meeting. Got to admit those meetings can get pretty boring. I am not on Facebook, don't text, and sure don't cut and paste. I'm a simple old trapper not wild about all these electronic systems. The article I referred to stated that DEC has adopted season changes for mink, muskrat, and beaver, and had the maps with the dates and WMU's. It states that the changes are due to the preferences expressed by hunters and trappers for seasons that would maximize harvesting for best pelt quality. I have pulled the last of my traps; supposed to get real cold. In my old age I've gotten to prefer sitting next to a wood stove than standing chopping ice with wind and zero temps. Question for you: when you sell beaver by the pound are they fleshed or just rough skinned? Have a good night.

Rough skinned. If I took the time to completely flesh out a beaver, I'm sure as heck going to board it at that point. I have injuries that do not allow me to use a 2 handled fleshing knife any more to flesh. Every beaver I put up must be fleshed with a rounded beaver knife on my knee. Too much strain on my busted up back to put up beaver any more for the extra dollar fur buyers pay for the effort. That's why they are sold green. Not because I am lazy or don't know how to put them up. walleyed
