As far as I know they had that meeting. I believe that is when the May gun show plans were approved. I only know anything about it because our fur auction was the next day and Bob Hughs was late and someone said that he never showed up to the meeting yesterday. To which I said What meeting was that? The reply was the NYSTA meeting. It was the first and only mention of that meeting that I have heard of, no minutes posted, no report of anything regarding it anywhere. I my opinion if they are going to do the gun show in may they should include a membership meeting of some sort with it. As for the regular BOD meetings, If they insist on calling it a BOD meeting and don't notify membership of when and where they are held They have NO STANDING to criticize members for not showing up. How many groups, businesses ect have there BOD meeting open to all who want to attend? Practically none, thats why they are called BOD meetings. If they want members to attend they need to let us know when and where they will be held at a minimum. How many times in the last year have those who have had complaints regarding how NYSTA is run been told by the leadership that they have no standing to complain if they don't attend the B.O.D. meetings. How many times have we heard NYSTA leadership bellow that if the membership wants to know what is going on, we need to attend the B.O.D. meetings. It's all a farce, as this NYSTA association is controlled by a Cabal of un-elected officers who have seized control of the association much like a military coup seizes power in a banana republic. The current leadership holds all the power, and all County Directorships and county reps are tightly controlled by executive officers, B.O.D., and Executive Director. Dave Miller runs the whole thing like a Dictatorship. The Rank & File membership have no say whatsoever, and the Reigning Cabal of current NYSTA leadership has no intention of dues paying members getting any information, nor having any say in the direction the organization is headed, nor of the direction of trapping's future in New York State. Sad, and disgusting. All in my opinion, of course. walleyed

The sad thing is that all the members have paid dues for nothing all theses years. Gamba and Miller made out pretty well and I wouldn't be shocked if other BOD's have stolen money from the members. Any BOD that was onboard during the Gamba years should be locked up also.

Nothing in the new TP regarding a BOD meeting. In fact, barely anything at all. The President said there are no new bills that would hurt us, Exec Dir said there were no new bills that would hurt us. Thats about it. But kudos to the 5N director who took the time to write up a small report to introduce himself and to reach out looking for county reps for 3 of the 4 counties under his direction. A director who cares enough to write something and has a pulse, who would have thought.

Yup Mac, I saw that while poring over New York State report today after receiving my Trapper's Post periodical looking for sign of the B.O.D. meeting date & time. That 5N report was very encouraging and commendable. It was also the smallest NYSTA overall Report I've seen over the years except when there was none at all, so I guess we should be grateful since there could have been none as I have seen in the recent past. Great to see NYSTA is getting serious about their commitment to improve communications between NYSTA leadership and rank & file, dues paying NYSTA members. LMAO !!! Sad, and disgusting. walleyed

TTT,
Just saw that NYSTA Vice President Bill Swagler (bill1960) was logged onto this site during the last 24 hours and didn't have the common courtesy to give notice about the next NYSTA Board Of Directors meeting date & time.
You would think that since NYSTA welcomes the attendance of it's dues paying rank & file membership at B.O.D. meetings that a NYSTA Officer would provide that information.
Nice Job NYSTA Vice-President Bill Swagler !!
All in my opinion, of course.
Sad, and disgusting.

I was told that there was a meeting in January, yet I see no evidence of it on the NYSTA website. No meeting minutes. What good is a website if it is not kept up todate? There was a time when NYSTA Officers and Directors were required to put a report in each issue of the trapping newspaper. Conveniently that has gone by the boards. Certainly NYSTA Officers and Directors read these websites, yet not one can post the next meeting date? I know all about joining the association which employes a lobbyist in Albany to protect our interests, but why should the average trapper join when he gets no feedback from the association? I've preached that for years. Many join merely to get the Trapper's Post subscription. Frankly, Officers and Directors that fail to communicate back to the membership are not doing their job. Ever since the Gamba episode there has been a sharp decline in membership, from guys that never received their memberships. It has been a slow process bringing them back. Lack of information to the membership is hurting membership recruitment bigtime, but the leadership takes a blind eye to that. Stating that they have nothing to report is pure bullshit.
All in my opinion and I too am disgusted

Frankly, Officers and Directors that fail to communicate back to the membership are not doing their job. Fisherman During the Board of Directors meeting I attended last October on opening day of deer season, I heard Ray Nolan, who is now supposedly in charge of the website, repeatedly criticize the former volunteer website director. To date, Ray Nolan's performance administering the NYSTA website has been pitiful, if not totally incompetent since taking over and he should be replaced immediately. He should be ashamed of himself. They should bring back Mike Finn. The NYSTA Officers & Board Of Directors are continuing their policy of non-communication, lack of accountability, and lack of transparency to the rank & file dues paying membership. They are purposely with-holding the dates and times of the Board of Directors meetings and they refuse to communicate regarding their efforts to cover up past criminal financial malfeasance and conceal the current questionable conduct by certain NYSTA parties. Sad and disgusting. All in my opinion, of course. walleyed

I think the NYSTA website is pathetic. Compare it with other states, example Pennsylvania. I also think that the loss of Mike Finn and the Gidneys was a huge loss to NYSTA, false rumors about them spread by an officer.

I know all about joining the association which employes a lobbyist in Albany to protect our interests, but why should the average trapper join when he gets no feedback from the association? Fisherman Exactly. But thats the card they always pull and wave, well your dues pay for a lobbyist. Truth is how do we know, what the lobbyist does is invisible to us. People want something to see and read and respond to, not just pay your dues and know we're watchdogging Albany. And when you publicly ask for communication your either ignored or told you're worse than the antis for trapping. Then they update the website, post a few relevant things on FB, put effort into a report in TP, all to call the dogs off, then go back to sleep. No accountability to directors or officers to properly communicate going forward. Accountability starts at the top, but when you have the fox guarding the henhouse you can expect mayhem. Bob is right, sad and disgusting.

Thank you, Bill Swagler, for your belated response. Some of us members would have been present at the January meeting had we been in possession of that information ahead of time. I don't recall any conversation with you, Bill, nor any post on this forum where you solicited any contact from us. None the less, thanks for the response, and you shall no doubt see some of us dues paying members at the next Board of Director's meeting in April. walleyed
